Important Commands of Allah

Islam is based on clear guidance from Allah through the Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Below are the most important divine commands, divided into categories, with authentic references and translations.

1. Belief (Aqeedah) عقیدہ اور ایمان

Believe in One Allah (Tawheed)

اللہ کی وحدانیت پر یقین رکھنا (توحید)

Allah commands us to worship Him alone and not associate anything with Him.

وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًۭٔا

Qur’an: Surah An-Nisa 4:36

Do Not Commit Shirk

شرک نہ کرنا

Associating partners with Allah is the greatest sin and is strictly forbidden.

إِنَّ ٱلشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌۭ

Qur’an: Surah Luqman 31:13

Believe in the Finality of Prophethood

ختم نبوت پر یقین رکھنا

Muhammad ﷺ is the last Messenger of Allah, and no prophet will come after him.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Ahzab 33:40

2. Obligatory Acts (Farz) فرائض اسلام

Establish Prayer (Salah)

نماز قائم کرو

Prayer is the foundation of a believer’s connection with Allah.

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ

Qur’an: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:43

Pay Zakah

زکوٰۃ ادا کرو

Zakah purifies wealth and helps the needy.

Qur’an: Surah At-Tawbah 9:103

Fast in Ramadan

رمضان کے روزے رکھو

Fasting teaches self-control (Taqwa) and obedience to Allah.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183

Perform Hajj (Pilgrimage)

حج ادا کرنا

Pilgrimage to the House of Allah is a duty for mankind, for those who can afford the journey.

Qur’an: Surah Aal-Imran 3:97

3. Moral Conduct (Akhlaq) حسن اخلاق

Speak the Truth

سچ بولو

Truthfulness leads to righteousness and Paradise.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًۭا

Qur’an: Surah Al-Ahzab 33:70

Be Kind to Parents

والدین کے ساتھ حسن سلوک

Allah has commanded kindness and respect toward parents, especially in their old age.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Isra 17:23

Practice Patience (Sabr)

صبر اختیار کرو

Seek help through patience and prayer; indeed, Allah is with the patient.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:153

4. Major Sins (Strictly Forbidden) گناہ کبیرہ (حرام)

Do Not Commit Zina

زنا کے قریب مت جاؤ

Allah forbids even approaching immoral acts (Adultery & Fornication).

وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَـٰحِشَةًۭ

Qur’an: Surah Al-Isra 17:32

No Alcohol or Intoxicants

شراب اور نشہ حرام ہے

Intoxicants destroy intellect and morality; they are tools of Satan.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:90

Do Not Take Interest (Riba)

سود مت کھاؤ

Riba is declared war against Allah and His Messenger.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:278–279

5. Social Justice & Rights معاشرتی انصاف اور حقوق

Do Not Oppress Others

کسی پر ظلم نہ کرو

Allah commands justice and forbids oppression (Zulm).

Qur’an: Surah An-Nahl 16:90

Fulfill Trusts & Promises

امانت اور وعدہ پورا کرو

Breaking trust is a sign of hypocrisy. Return trusts to their owners.

Qur’an: Surah An-Nisa 4:58

6. Commands from Hadith (Sunnah) احادیث نبوی ﷺ

Seek Knowledge

علم حاصل کرنا

Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.

Avoid Harmful Actions

ضرر پہنچانے سے بچو

"There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."

Hadith: Sunan Ibn Majah 2341

Show Mercy

رحم کرو

Those who show mercy will receive mercy from Allah.

Hadith: Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 1924

7. Gunāh-e-Kabīrah (Detailed) گناہ کبیرہ کی تفصیل

Shirk (Polytheism)

شرک (اللہ کے ساتھ شریک ٹھہرانا)
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ

Allah does not forgive association with Him if one dies upon it without repentance.

Qur’an: Surah An-Nisa 4:48

Disobedience to Parents

والدین کی نافرمانی

Disrespecting parents is among the gravest sins. Do not even say "Uff".

Murder of an Innocent Soul

ناحق قتل

Taking an innocent life is like killing all mankind.

False Testimony

جھوٹی گواہی

Giving false witness leads to injustice and is a major sin.

Magic & Sorcery

جادو اور ٹونہ

Magic (Sihr) is disbelief and harms society structurally.

Remember Allah Often (Dhikr)

اللہ کا کثرت سے ذکر

Remembrance of Allah brings peace to the heart.

Qur’an: Surah Ar-Ra‘d 13:28

Lower the Gaze

نگاہیں نیچی رکھنا

Guarding one’s eyes protects the heart from temptation.

Qur’an: Surah An-Nur 24:30–31

Guard Modesty

شرم و حیا کی حفاظت

Modesty (Haya) is a branch of faith.

Hadith: Sahih Muslim 35

Speak Good or Remain Silent

اچھی بات کہو یا خاموش رہو

A believer controls their tongue to avoid sin.

Avoid Backbiting

غیبت سے پرہیز

Backbiting is likened to eating the flesh of one’s dead brother.

Earn Halal Livelihood

رزق حلال کمانا

Allah accepts only pure and lawful earnings.

Maintain Family Ties

صلہ رحمی (رشتہ جوڑنا)

Maintaining relations increases blessings (Barakah) in life.

Rights of Neighbors

پڑوسیوں کے حقوق

A true believer does not harm their neighbors.

Help the Poor

غریبوں کی مدد

Charity extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire.

Hadith: Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 614

Kindness to Orphans

یتیموں کے ساتھ شفقت

Caring for orphans brings closeness to the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise.

10. Spiritual Protection روحانی تحفظ

Repent Frequently (Tawbah)

کثرت سے توبہ کرنا

Allah loves those who repent sincerely.

Qur’an: Surah Az-Zumar 39:53

Fear Allah (Taqwa)

اللہ کا تقویٰ اختیار کرنا

Fear Allah secretly and openly; Taqwa is the key to success.

Qur’an: Surah Aal-Imran 3:102

Prepare for the Hereafter

آخرت کی تیاری

This life is temporary; the Hereafter is eternal.

Qur’an: Surah Al-Hashr 59:18
